Believing societal shifts originate in the minds of individuals, I’ve attempted to traced the philosophical roots of this decay from first principles. It became apparent that I'd have to dig far deeper into the messy underbelly of the subconscious impulses and assumptions running amuck in today's society, directly or indirectly affecting the philosophy and mission of FOSS & beyond. It turns out that I had to drill all the way to the very bottom, to the very foundations of human institutions, themselves, to describe an order which, to my knowledge, has not been previously articulated, though it seems to have been subconsciously expressed throughout time. What follows is a (hopefully) logically consistent framework which, if embraced, could provide a solid foundation from which to restore the free software movement and, ultimately, safeguard human institutions from corruption, in general.
